Woodworking for the impatient - 3 Days
2024 date to be announced.
Course description
Like any art or craft, woodworking takes time, patience and practice to master. But not everyone has time or patience! You can have a lot of fun and success without worrying about the supposed “best way” to do something. Sure – traditional joinery is generally better than nails and screws. But nails and screws can often get the job done in a fraction of the time and still give years of pleasure and service. This course is for anyone wanting a quick win who is not yet concerned with the heady-heights of fine furniture making. Perhaps you just want to know some quick ways to build some bookshelves or a picture frame. If you just want to know how to use some simple woodworking tools and machines safely (like hand held circular saws and drills) then this course is aimed at you. We will cover some quick and easy ‘cheats’ that are a viable alternative to learning complex joinery. We’ll show you some brilliant methods of joining wood together that you can learn in just a few minutes. We’ll be covering nail guns, biscuit joiners, pocket screws, knock down fittings and the Festool Domino (the best tool for cheating at woodwork ever invented!). Don’t worry if you don’t understand yet what all of these things are – by the end of the weekend you will have used them all. On this course you will make a simple small table to take home.
