About the School

The Two Rock School of Woodworking is based just outside of Petaluma, California. We are about an hour's drive north of San Francisco.

We offer an exciting, creative and inclusive space for woodworking education. We expect all our students and tutors to participate collectively in our mission to celebrate craftsmanship. We welcome students at all levels from total beginners to seasoned woodworking professionals looking to add new skills to their repertoire.

We seek to empower and encourage everyone with a passion for woodworking. We welcome students whose backgrounds and identities have traditionally been under-represented in the craft.

Our classes are always very small which allows us to provide a supportive and safe learning environment. Our hands-on classes are typically for a maximum of 6 to 8 people. We do sometimes have larger groups for things like evening presentations.

The school is an intimate, 1500sf space with a personal woodworking bench for every student, a shared machine floor and a mezzanine area for project assembly and presentations.

The school was founded by our chief instructor, Mark Tindley and the late Greg Zall. Greg was a former student of master furniture maker, James Krenov, and a supremely gifted woodworker and educator. Today, the Two Rock School of Woodworking strives to honor his legacy.
