Course description
Veneering opens up a world of construction and design possibilities. Shop-sawn veneers are superior to commercial veneers in numerous ways, and complete control of the process is attained when one can cut their own veneers. In this five-day class, students will learn why that is and unlock these skills to create a veneered backgammon board with decorative inlays that can be admired as well as played. Sarah’s instruction will focus on the importance of both machine and hand tools in high precision woodworking, and the harmony that is created when used in conjunction with each other. Instruction on proper handplane use and sharpening will be shared. Students will also learn about working from drawings, lumber selection, parquetry, inlay, and hinge setting. Sarah will demonstrate how to create a five-pointed star inlay, but creative freedom will be given to students to design their own inlays. All tools and materials will be provided.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel a class please let us know right away. If a wait-listed student is ready to take your place we will refund the class minus a 4% cancellation fee to cover our banking costs. Otherwise our cancellation fees are as follows: Classes canceled 5 days or more before start date: Refund minus 10% cancellation fee. Classes canceled less than 5 days before start date: Refund minus 50% cancellation fee. Classes canceled less than 2 days before start date: No Refunds Given.
