Ready for a weekend of woodworking fun? Join us for an exciting hands-on workshop where you’ll dive into the world of woodworking and Japanese craft traditions! Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, this class is for you. We’ll teach you how to design and build your very own small tool chest using a mix of hand tools and machines. While we’ll be working in a Western-style shop, we’ll also explore classic Japanese techniques that will elevate your skills and open up new creative possibilities. The project is based on plans from the renowned Toshio Odate, a master craftsman whose designs have stood the test of time. This tool chest is a perfect introduction to woodworking—it’s beautiful, functional, and elegant, featuring a sliding lid that closes securely without any hardware, and recessed handles that combine strength with minimalist style. Plus, you’ll get to practice classic joinery techniques like mortise and tenon, which will help you build a strong, lasting piece of furniture. By the end of the weekend, you’ll gain confidence using hand tools and woodworking machines, perfecting your technique for layout, joinery, and lumber prep. Whether you’re looking to make your own projects at home or just want to add a beautiful, functional piece to your space, this class has something for everyone. Class is from 9am to 5pm each day. All materials and tools are provided and included in the course cost.
